Schnell enters the world of prefabrication.
Prefabrication is a constantly growing sector, fuelled by the increasing pace of construction demanded by the market and the high-quality standards of finished products. Traditional construction methods are often not sufficient: labour and on-site assembly are slow and less efficient processes than prefabrication.
Moreover, when it comes to building large areas and floors, standard mesh is not adequate. This is where prefabricated and engineered mesh comes in, to ensure high flexibility in dimensions, diameters and pitches (which can be multiple or free), and can also be made with openings and windows.
The continuous growth of the sector and the increasing demand for more complex products from customers (mesh with strange shapes, mesh with bends and openings, special welds) led to the entry of the Friuli-based company AWM into the Schnell group.
AWM has specialised in the development and production of high-tech machinery for the precast industry for over 30 years and offers:
- Machines and plants for the production of special electro-welded mesh for precast concrete elements; these machines are the ideal solution for the production of special mesh with openings (door and window mesh) and custom-made mesh with different dimensions.
- Plants and machines for the production of tunnel reinforcements, tunnel segments and similar precast concrete elements.
With the acquisition of AWM, the Schnell Group now offers the most modern and efficient reinforcing solutions for precasters.
As of today, our customers can choose between prefabrication or on-site assembly, as Schnell has machinery for both methods.

The main precasting machines offered by Schnell are:
FLEXIWELD: flexible mesh welding plant for the production of electro-welded mesh for precast concrete elements. This solution is suitable for precasters and mesh manufacturers who need mesh for slabs or walls and mesh with openings for doors and windows. FLEXIWELD is marked by high technology, low space requirements in the plant and a low cost.
GIRDERFLEX: a just-in-time lattice girder welding machine for the production of electro-welded lattice girders; this plant is extremely flexible and is ideal for the production of prefabricated slabs and double prefabricated panels. Thanks to its versatility, GIRDERFLEX easily adapts to the different needs of precasters, enabling them to work efficiently and produce high-quality products.
TNL: Ladder mesh welding machine for the production of curved or straight electro-welded ladders from coil, mainly used to produce prefabricated tunnels reinforcement; in combination with an electro-welded mesh machine, TNL is the right solution for the production of tunnel segments. TNL makes it possible to produce precise, high-quality mesh, guaranteeing the strength and durability required for precast structures.
